Goafie vs Aviate
Last updated: October 15, 2026. Prices and features as of October 2026.
Goafie is a flight logbook and travel tracker for pilots, flight attendants and everyone they fly with: flights and hotels in one log, on iPhone or Android, with friends who can follow your whole trip. Aviate (Aviate: Flight Companion) is a flight tracker for Android.
We make Goafie, so read this with that in mind. Everything here about Aviate comes from aviate.app (its pricing, features, release notes and privacy pages) and its Google Play listing, checked on October 13, 2026.
Where Goafie is different
- iPhone and Android, together. Goafie runs on both, so a crew or a family with mixed phones can all log their trips and follow each other's. Aviate is on Android and Wear OS only; its iPhone version has a waitlist with no launch date.
- Friends who see your whole trip. Find friends by @handle, from People you may know, or by sending a link. Friends see your flights and hotel stays, but not your seat, booking code, notes or loyalty numbers, unless you share a photo that shows them. See which friends are on your flight or at your hotel, react to their trips, and add a friend's flight to your own trips in one tap. Aviate has public profiles and groups and lets you send a flight to another Aviate user; its feature list doesn't include a friends list.
- Subscribe to a friend's trips. Tap the bell on any friend's flight or stay, or turn on auto-subscribe to follow everything they add. Their trips sit in your Subscribed trips with their status, gate and aircraft. Subscribing is free; Goafie Pro tracks them live, sends you their alerts and puts their flight on your Lock Screen. On Aviate, the traveler has to send each flight: directly to another Aviate user, to a trip group (Pro), or as a live web link (Pro). Its feature list doesn't include subscribing to a friend's trips or auto-following everything they add.
- Share links for anyone, free. On every plan, send any trip as a link that opens a preview card in any browser, with the route or hotel and dates, or as a Story card for Instagram. On Aviate, free users can share only with other Aviate users; a browser link or QR code for people without the app needs Aviate Pro.
- Photos shared with friends on your flight. Add photos to any of your flights: the boarding pass, the aircraft, the cabin, the airport. Turn on sharing for that flight and your photos are pooled with friends on the same flight, so a crew or a family sees everyone's photos and boarding passes in one place. Sharing is off by default, set per flight, and free, and only friends on that flight see them. Aviate's listing and feature pages don't mention trip photos.
- Your loyalty numbers on every flight. Save your frequent-flyer, hotel, lounge and car-rental numbers once, from about 700 airlines and 55 hotel groups, with a screenshot of each QR code if you like. Each flight shows your number for that airline, with one-tap copy and its QR code, and if you don't hold that airline's program it shows the alliance partner you do. Stays at the hotel groups Goafie recognizes show your hotel number and your nights with that group this year. Free, and only you see them. Aviate's Card Wallet, a free Labs feature, saves pictures of lounge and airport cards, and its airline-account link (Pro, in beta) launched with Delta only in its August 1.1.0 release notes, with Flying Blue and United listed as coming soon.
- Hotels alongside flights. Log your hotel stays next to your flights: search for the hotel and add your dates. Your nights away and cities count toward your year. Aviate trips hold flights, documents, checklists and parking details, and it doesn't list hotel stays.
- Tracking that doesn't wait for you to open the app. Goafie tracks every airline flight it can find on our servers and sends gate and delay changes as it finds them. Goafie Pro checks about every 5 minutes from 3 hours before departure, about every 3 minutes in the last 15 minutes, and about every 2 minutes while you taxi. Aviate's ongoing live-tracking notification (Pro) follows one flight at a time, checks about every five minutes, and starts only if you open Aviate in the window you choose, 2 to 6 hours before departure.
- Gate and delay alerts on the free plan. Your own flights get gate and delay alerts at key checkpoints, and a change in the last 3 hours before departure reaches you within about 30 minutes, or within about 5 minutes in the final 15 minutes before departure. Once you sign in, the next airline flight you add gets Goafie Pro's tracking and alerts free, once, until it leaves your Trips. Aviate lists push and live notifications as Aviate Pro features.
- A Lock Screen card on the free plan. Your own flights get a Lock Screen card from about 3 hours before departure until about an hour after you land: a Live Update on Android 16 and newer, or a Live Activity on iPhone. On Android and on iOS 17.2 or later it starts on its own, without opening the app. On the free plan its gate and delay details update at the same checkpoints as your alerts; with Pro, and on the next airline flight you add once you sign in, every few minutes. Aviate's ongoing live notification, shown in Samsung's Now Bar on supported phones, needs Aviate Pro.
- Trips you've taken are never capped. With a free account, every flight and stay you add stays in your log, with no limit on how many. The free plan limits trips ahead of you to 10 at a time and new trips to 5 a day, and adding past trips needs Goafie Pro.
- See where your plane is coming from, free. Once the airline assigns the aircraft, My Aircraft shows its tail number and age and the flights that same plane flew before yours, with how late each one ran. It's on your flights and your friends'. Aviate's Where's My Plane needs Aviate Pro.
- Airport and airline reviews. Rate airports on security, terminal, food, wifi and navigation. Rate the airline for each flight on boarding, crew, comfort, food and entertainment, note the cabin you flew, and add up to 5 photos. Reviews are free. Aviate doesn't list airport or airline reviews.
