Getting started

What is Goafie?

Goafie is a flight logbook and travel tracker for iPhone and Android. Add your flights and hotels and it keeps their live status, totals your miles, airports, and nights away, and turns the year into a shareable travel profile.

Which devices does Goafie support?

Goafie runs on iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later, and on Android 7.0 or later. Download it free from the App Store or Google Play.

How do I add a flight?

Tap + Trips on the Trips tab (or open the Search tab) and search by flight number (like UA2626) or route, then pick your flight. Goafie pulls in the schedule, gate, and live status automatically.

How is Goafie different from Flighty, byAir, Aviate or Routebook?

Unlike Flighty, which is Apple-only, and Aviate, which is Android-only for now, Goafie runs on iPhone and Android. Unlike Flighty, byAir and Aviate, Goafie logs hotel stays alongside your flights, pools your flight photos with friends on the same flight, shows your loyalty numbers on each flight, and gives you a Lock Screen card for your own flights on the free plan (on Android, 16 or newer). Unlike Routebook, Goafie is a phone app built around live trips and friends who see each other's flights. Routebook gives you unlimited free logging, logs hotels too, and imports from other apps. We compare them side by side on Goafie vs Flighty, Goafie vs byAir, Goafie vs Aviate and Goafie vs Routebook.

Plans and pricing

How much does Goafie cost?

Goafie is free to download, and the free plan covers up to 10 upcoming flights and stays at a time, plus your stats, year in review, and friends. Once you sign in, the next airline flight you add also gets Pro tracking free, once: your 1st Free Pro Flight. Goafie Pro is $4.99 a month or $54.99 a year in the US (your store shows your local price) and adds gate and delay alerts within minutes and faster live tracking on every flight, Calendar Sync, unlimited trips, and past trips from any date. See Pricing for the full list.

What's free and what needs Pro?

The free plan holds up to 10 upcoming flights and stays at a time, and you can add 5 new trips a day. Adding a trip from before today, notifications and Lock Screen cards for friends' trips, private trips, Calendar Sync, and gate and delay alerts within minutes in the last 3 hours before departure need Goafie Pro. The one exception is your 1st Free Pro Flight: once you sign in, the next airline flight you add to your own trips gets Pro's live tracking, alerts within minutes, on-time odds and Ride Quality, free, once. If Pro ends, your account moves to the free plan: we keep your 10 soonest upcoming trips and delete the rest, past trips are never removed, the friends' trips you follow stay in your list but stop sending you notifications, and trips you made private stay private. To choose which upcoming trips stay, remove the ones you don't need before Pro ends.

Is there a free trial of Goafie Pro?

There's no time-based free trial. Instead, when you're signed in on the free plan, the next airline flight you add to your own trips gets Goafie Pro's flight features free, once (a flight you add manually doesn't count). We call it your 1st Free Pro Flight. On that flight you get live tracking about every 2–5 minutes from 3 hours before departure, gate, delay and cancellation alerts within minutes, the Arrival Forecast with on-time odds, the Ride Quality turbulence outlook, live tracking of the plane's earlier flights, so you can follow it flying in for yours, and the weather overlay. It lasts until the flight leaves your Trips, 6 hours after its scheduled arrival; after that, the flight stays in your log on the free plan like any other. It's one flight per account and needs you to be signed in, so guests don't get it. It covers only a flight in your own trips, not friends' trips you follow. If you change or delete that flight before it departs, the offer isn't used up: change it with Modify Trip and the offer moves to the new flight, or delete it and the next airline flight you add gets the offer instead (as it also does if Modify Trip switches you to a flight that's already in your trips). If you delete the flight after it departs, the offer is used up. Calendar Sync, unlimited trips, adding past trips, private trips, and notifications and Lock Screen cards for friends' trips still need Goafie Pro.

Alerts and Lock Screen

Which notifications will I get?

Goafie can alert you to gate changes, departures, arrivals, delays, and cancellations on your trips. Choose which alerts you get in the Me tab → Notifications → My Trips. On the free plan your flights update at key checkpoints; with Goafie Pro, and on your 1st Free Pro Flight, changes reach you within minutes from 3 hours before departure until you land.

How do I get Lock Screen updates for my trips?

Goafie shows a live card for your flight on your Lock Screen from about 3 hours before departure until about an hour after landing. On iPhone it's a Live Activity, and it works on every iPhone that runs Goafie (iOS 16.4 or later); on iOS 17.2 or later the card can start even when Goafie is closed, and on earlier versions it starts when you open Goafie during that window. On Android it's a Live Update and needs Android 16 or newer. To turn it on or off, go to the Me tab → Notifications → Lock Screen Widget: My Flights covers your own flights and is free, and Friends' Flights adds the friends' flights you subscribe to and needs Goafie Pro. On iPhone, Live Activities must also be allowed for Goafie in the Settings app. On the free plan the card follows your flight at key checkpoints rather than live, except on your 1st Free Pro Flight.

Friends

How do I connect with friends?

In the Friends tab, find people by their @handle and send a friend request, or share your profile link from the Me tab. Once they accept, you each see the other's trips that aren't private.

How do I follow a friend's trip?

Open a friend's flight or stay and tap the bell to subscribe. It shows up under Subscribed trips at the bottom of the Friends tab. Subscribing is free. Notifications about friends' trips (departures, arrivals, gate changes, delays) and friends' flights on your Lock Screen need Goafie Pro; choose which ones you get in the Me tab → Notifications → Friends' Trips.

How do I auto-subscribe to all of a friend's trips?

In the Friends tab, find the friend in your Friend List, tap … next to their name, and choose Auto-subscribe to trips. Goafie subscribes you to all of their current and upcoming trips, and to every trip they add later, as long as it isn't private. To stop, choose Turn off auto-subscribe in the same menu; the trips you already follow stay in your list. Auto-subscribe is free; notifications for friends' trips need Goafie Pro.

What do other crew see about my trips?

Friends you connect with see your flights and stays that aren't private: flight numbers, routes, dates, and status, and hotel names, locations, and dates. They never see your seat, booking code, notes, or loyalty numbers. Your name, @handle, and photo are visible to other Goafie users, and friends on the same flight or at the same hotel can see you're there. Reviews you post are visible to everyone signed in to Goafie, and an airline review also shows that flight's number, route, and date, even if the trip is private. Trip photos are off by default. One thing to know: anyone signed in to Goafie who opens a trip link you sent and accepts it becomes your friend straight away.

How do I report or block someone?

Both are built in. You can report a profile or a shared photo from the app, and reports go to our team for review; we remove content and suspend accounts that break the rules. Blocking takes effect immediately: it removes the connection, hides their content from you, and stops them reaching you. You'll find blocked accounts in the Me tab → Blocked Users, and you can unblock at any time.

Privacy

How do I make a trip completely private?

Open the trip, tap … in the bar at the bottom left, and choose Make Private (a Goafie Pro feature). Once a trip is private, friends no longer see it, anyone subscribed to it is unsubscribed and it disappears from their Subscribed trips, and any share link to it stops working. Reviews you posted stay visible. To share it again, choose Make Public, which is always free: friends can see and subscribe to it again, and friends who auto-subscribe to your trips are subscribed again automatically if the trip is current or upcoming. To make new trips private from the start, go to the Me tab → Trip Privacy (Goafie Pro).

Is my travel data private?

Your trips are visible only to friends you connect with (and anyone you send a trip link to), and Goafie Pro lets you make any trip private. We don't sell your personal information for money, but some US state laws treat our ad measurement as “sharing” — our Privacy Policy explains this and your choices. You can delete your account and its data at any time.

Calendar Sync

How does Calendar Sync import my trips?

Connect a calendar in the Me tab → Calendar Sync and choose which calendars to import from. Goafie Pro then checks your calendars regularly — typically every 30 minutes — and automatically adds the flights and hotel stays it finds in new or updated events. Regular sync only imports upcoming trips; your travel history comes in through a backfill.

What is a backfill?

A backfill scans your calendar history — up to 1, 3, or 5 years back — and, with Goafie Pro, imports the past flights and hotel stays it finds, so your travel stats reflect where you've actually been. You can run one anytime from Calendar Sync settings; without Pro, the scan shows how many trips it found instead of importing them. A backfill re-imports everything it finds, including trips you previously deleted in Goafie.

When do my trips import after I subscribe?

Upcoming trips start syncing right away. Your travel history imports automatically within 48 hours of subscribing to Goafie Pro — you don't need to do anything. Before subscribing, Goafie scans your calendar and shows how many trips it found; subscribing unlocks the actual import.

I deleted a trip that came from my calendar. Will it come back?

No — once you delete a trip in Goafie, regular sync won't add it back as long as the calendar event stays the same. There are two exceptions: if the event is later edited (for example the times change), Goafie treats that as new information and imports the trip again; and a backfill always restores every trip it finds, including deleted ones. To remove a trip for good, delete the event from your calendar too.

What happens when I edit or delete an event on my calendar?

Edits flow through: if an event Goafie imported changes — new times, a different flight — the trip updates on the next sync. If you delete the event from your calendar and “Sync Calendar Deletions” is turned on in Calendar Sync settings, the matching trip is removed from Goafie too.

What's the best way to set up Calendar Sync?

Three tips. First, import from all the calendars your travel lands on — work, personal, family — so every trip is tracked no matter where it was booked. Second, keep calendar export off unless you actually want your Goafie trips on a calendar. Third, if you do use export, don't select the calendar Goafie exports to as an import source — importing your own exported events can create confusing duplicates.

Your data and account

Can I get my data out if I leave?

Yes. In the Me tab, under Account, tap Export My Trips to request a CSV file with all your flights and hotel stays. Our team reviews each request and emails the file to your account email from support@goafie.com; it can take up to 14 business days. If you signed up with an email and password, you'll be asked to verify your email first. You can also ask for a copy of your data by emailing support@goafie.com; our Privacy Policy explains your rights. Your past trips are never removed while your account exists, even if Pro ends.

How do I delete my account or data?

In the Me tab, tap Delete My Account. This permanently deletes your account, trips, and uploaded photos and can't be undone. You can also email support@goafie.com and we'll handle it. A few records are kept, like reviews you posted; see our Privacy Policy for exactly what's removed and what's kept.
